Hardwood Artisans Designs Custom Turtle Cage for D.C.-area Resident
WOODBRIDGE, VA. – January 7, 2011 – Greg Gloor, founder and craftsman of Hardwood Artisans furniture manufacturer, designed a custom-made turtle cage for a resident of the Washington, D.C. area who needed an attractive, functional way to house her pets in her limited-space apartment. The project was the result of teamwork between Greg, who has kept turtles himself, and Hardwood Artisan’s Kevin Parker, who has been a master craftsman at Hardwood Artisans for 15 years and is also an avid naturalist and Prince William Conservation Alliance volunteer.
Customers come to Hardwood Artisans looking for a solution for their problems of space and design, and this "care for the customer" approach has been the hallmark of this unique, custom furniture manufacturer since its creation in 1976. They now build high-end hardwood furniture, kitchens, and more at their woodshop in Woodbridge, Va., where they invite each customer to come in and see how their unique piece being made.
"I never know what piece of my past I will need to call upon to help solve a customer’s problem," said Greg. "I try to approach each new customer with a blank slate and actually listen for what’s needed and wanted. I try to see it from their point of view, and put together something that works for them."
"The sliding drawers and the removable doors were genius!" said Audra Meckstrott, who lives in Reston, Va. and purchased the cage for $2,500. "It was a breeze to set up and the pets settled right in. I can't say enough about how great this cabinet turned out."
