Hardwood Artisans Dutch Auction
In the course of our normal business, we at Hardwood Artisans accumulate some pieces of furniture that we need to find a good home for. The typical reasons for this are:
- The piece will not fit where it was intended to go.
- We made an error and missed some specification that the customer ordered, and it was not fixable (for example – wrong type wood was used – it happens!).
- A piece was made specifically for the purpose of getting a photo needed for an ad.
- A showroom piece gets replaced with some other piece.
In most cases these pieces are brand new and perfectly good. In some cases, as in showroom models, there might be some slight wear.
A Dutch Auction is a type of auction where the initial price is set on the high side. The price is then lowered at some rate until it hits a real market value. The US Treasury (by way of the Federal Reserve) uses this method to establish prices and sell Treasury notes, for an example. The name itself comes from the auction method used in the Netherlands to sell tulip bulbs and bulb futures.
Hardwood Artisans will be running a Dutch Auction to sell a couple of items. Each item will have a description and a story, along with its specific auction terms. These pieces will fall in price, weekly, until someone purchases them. If you wish to buy one, contact any of our showrooms. Good luck!
